What a great time we had at the Otis Library! This time our journey took us into space where we flew past our friend the moon and explored some of the stories that are hidden in the stars. On our way back home we saluted the sun and returned to Earth for a relaxing story about the light that lives within all of us.

Do you remember what we called it in class?

Hi yogis and parents! You all are doing such a wonderful job practicing yoga. I can tell that you have even been working on it at home. That is one of the great things about yoga, you can practice just about anywhere.

This week our theme is "Your Fall Yoga Journey." We will take a trip through the sights, smells and sounds of this glorious time of year. During our journey we meet up with some familiar friends and make new ones along the way. Our big thing to remember this week is the importance of taking big, deep breaths. We practice using that breath to help get our bodies moving and to help us relax when it was time to rest.
Here are the poses (asanas) for this journey:

Water Bottle Breathing
Sun Stretches

Butterfly

Turtle

Magic Cat (Cat to Cow)

Down Dog

Pumpkin (Child’s Pose)

Turkey

Table

Boat

Bridge

Candle

Spider

Apple Tree

Falling Leaves

Savasana

Please let me know what thought of this journey. After a summer of letting loose it is time to return to the rhythm of routines. That doesn't mean getting into a rut but instead taking the opportunity to focus on those things that bring order to your life.
Take time to focus on your breathing; notice how you control the speed and how your breath can control how you feel. Small changes in the speed of life can make a big difference. Taking control of what you do and how you get through each day can help you face the challenges that come your way. Keeping on track is a lot like yoga. You must be strong but flexible, graceful but willing to move toward your edge, in control but know when to let go. Look inside to find your path and find your groove and don't forget to breathe.Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09844785114762011888noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4794425411346520410.post-19716762393879060462008-08-28T16:45:00.004-04:002008-08-28T17:07:41.787-04:00Earth Friends Yoga Gets a Gold Medal Start

I would like to thank Miss Lois and my wonderful new friends at Sherwood School for a job well done. There are tons of books to help us get to know the little earth friends with whom we share the outside during this season. Learning about all that wiggling and jiggling has inspired me to create a new yoga story entitled Your Garden Yoga Journey which will have its debut on Saturday, July 26 at the Acton Public Library starting at 10 AM. Crawl, hop or fly on over and join us; all yogis big and small are welcome. I hope to see you and the little critters in your life as we catch the yoga bug!

Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09844785114762011888noreply@blogger.com0
