MLC Goes On A Safari!

Hello Madison Learning Center Yogis!

Thank you so much for going with me on an wild adventure! I had a great time traveling to Africa with you for “Your SAFARI Yoga Journey.” Our trip was exciting and we met all kinds of interesting creatures. We also learned to put a series of poses together to create a vinyasa. The vinyasa we tried is called a SUN SALUTATION. This is a great way to start or end the day. Remember how we talked about how beautiful it is at sunset on the African plain? Try going outside sometime as the sun sets and notice how the light is different and how different sounds start to come out as the sun goes to sleep.

Take time to try all of the poses we practiced. Here are the poses, or asanas, we did on our adventure:

Balloon Breathing

Sun Stretches

Airplane
Jeep Driver (chair pose)
Snake
Crocodile
Lion
Monkey
Elephant
Giraffe and Tree
Sun Salutation (check out an animation at
http://www.abc-of-yoga.com/yogapractice/sunsalutation.asp)
Savasana

I hope you enjoyed listening to the story about the Lion's Whisker. Remember to think about what we can do to help us be patient: take deep yoga breaths, find fun things to do to pass the time, use our imaginations think of something when we need to be quiet and still.

Have fun making your mask look like someone we met with our safari poses. Please leave a comment and tell me which was YOUR favorite friend.

I hope to see you again soon. Keep breathing deeply and have fun exploring new worlds. Remember to share your "Om, Shanti, Shanti, Peace" with others.

Namaste,

-Ms. Jen
